Work can have a deeper meaning if it makes a positive social impact. This was a key theme from Blouin News’ talk with Nell Derick Debevoise, founder and CEO of Inspiring Capital, a consultancy that helps clients aiming to make the world a better place. Inspiring Capital works with non-profits as well as private firms, helping at all stages from planning to execution to evaluation. For instance, one of its favorite clients, Greyston Bakery, is owned by a non-profit and has an open hiring policy for people formerly incarcerated or addicted. Inspiring Capital will help them to track their impact, meaning “not only what is the finance of this business but what are the social outcomes they’re achieving through that business.” Next up, a new I.C. hub focusing on women re-entering the workforce will open in Raleigh, North Carolina this fall.
